The crisis of the formation and spread of terrorist groups is one of the most important developments that has affected the Middle East region over the last decade. Among these groups, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is the major terrorist group that took over Iraq and Syria over the years 2018-2014. Accordingly, governments in the region have taken different approaches to ISIS. In the current context with the fall of ISIS, the main purpose of this article is to examine the regional position of Iran and Saudi Arabia in the post-ISIS period. The theoretical framework of the article is to use the theory of realism which tries to study the subject with a descriptive-analytical method. The main question of the research is what effect did the fall of ISIS have on the regional position of Iran and Saudi Arabia, and what are the most important requirements of the two countries in the aftermath of the fall of ISIS? Findings show that the two main approaches of cooperation and escalation of the conflict can be considered in Iran-Saudi Arabia relations. Although strengthening the possibility of cooperation and interaction between the two countries in this period is small, but in the context of escalating the conflict, the two sides try to strengthen their power through various strategies.
