Abstract:   (2726 Views)
The social Islamic movement, today known as ‘Fathullah Gulen’ (Khoja Afandi) who is a Turkish philosopher living in the U.S, is the continuation, or in other words, the subgroup of  “Norjiah” Group. In fact, Gulen and his views to social Islam with regard to religion and government are specifically important due to his attempt to theorize secularism using Islamic principles and put it against political Islamic movements. This article aims to compare the Springs’ four-step analytical framework with Gulens’ thoughts and accordingly study his observations, problemology, the urbanism ideal, and his solutions to reach an ideal society. The result of this study showed that Gulen sees the main problems of the Islamic world in poverty, division, and radicalism and believes that the main reasons of these problems are ignorance and despotism governing these societies. He, then, attempts to establish a utopian society in which moral changes have priority over structural changes, and consequently, sees non-political Islam, educational-based Renaissance, democracy, and tolerance, the only ways to solve these problems. The results of this study demonstrates that his movement in this regard has caused the establishment of a great educational, economic, and promotional emperor in the world that attempts to absorb elites from China to Balkans and from Africa to Europe all inspired by his emperor and aspirations of his movement.
