Economic sanctions are a tool that has been used as a soft power tool instead of physical power in the past few decades and exerts great pressure on the countries under sanctions.After the Islamic Revolution, Iran faced many economic and political sanctions, and they have also acquired various dimensions over the past decade.The main question of the present study is: What impact have economic sanctions had on governance quality indicators in Iran over the past decade?The aim of the present study is to examine the effects of sanctions on the quality of governance indicators in Iran in the past decade. Therefore, by using the six World Bank indicators, namely the right voice and accountability, political stability and non-violence, government efficiency, regulatory quality, rule of law, and control of corruption, the effects of sanctions on the quality of governance in Iran have been measured.The findings of the present study show that the sanctions imposed by the United States in the past decade have had a negative impact on governance indicators. This study is descriptive-analytical and documentary in terms of its implementation method.
